1. Student Code of Conduct:
All students are expected to show respect towards their instructor. Harassment, offensive language, or improper conduct is unacceptable and could lead to service termination.
2. Driver License:
It is legally required for student drivers to carry a valid BC driver's license during driving lessons. Instructors will verify the student’s license at the start of each lesson. Should a student fail to show their license, the instructor will cancel the lesson and cancellation fees will apply.
3. Safety:
The safety of our students, instructors, and other road users is of the utmost importance. We require all students to consistently follow safe driving protocols. Instances of reckless or dangerous conduct will not be accepted and instructors are authorized to terminate a session if this conduct persists.
4. Punctuality:
All students are asked to be punctual for their lessons as late showing up could shorten the lesson time, but the full fee will be charged. If student is late for the lesson, they will not be compensated for the lost time. If the instructor is late, the student will be compensated for the time.
5. Lesson Duration:
Each driving lesson is a minimum of 1 hour or a maximum of 1.5 hours. Each driving lesson provides a minimum practice time of 50 minutes (for 1-hour sessions) or 80 minutes (for 1.5 hours sessions).
6. Vehicle Occupancy:
All lessons are one student to one instructor. At the discretion of the instructor, a maximum of 3 people (i.e. instructor, student, and an observer) may be allowed in the vehicle during a student’s lesson time. The instructor may charge additional fees for the observer.
7. Rules for the Observer
Occasionally, an instructor may permit an observer to be in the rear passenger seat of the training vehicle, as peer learning is considered valuable. Nevertheless, it is crucial that the observer does not interfere with or divert the student driver’s attention through any means such as causing distractions, creating noise, and so on. Should the instructor determine that the observer is negatively affecting the student driver’s experience, the observer will be asked to exit the vehicle. Please note, in such cases, no refunds will be issued for the observer who is removed.
8. Consent to Video Recordings
Certain training vehicles have cameras set up to record the road conditions. Some vehicles could also include cameras inside the car. The instructor will let students know about these recording devices, and both the student and their parents or legal guardians must agree to the student being recorded. It's important for students and their parents to realize that these recordings will capture both audio and video of the student and the exterior. These videos are primarily used to promote safety for those in the car and to provide to law enforcement and ICBC with visual proof should a traffic incident occur. Consent for recording is mandatory for all students during driving lessons.
9. Payment:
Bundled lesson packages must be paid for in advance. Single lessons don't need prepayment, but payment is expected at the end of each lesson. Multiple payment options are available.
10. Cancellation Fee:
Please inform us at least 24 hours in advance if you must cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a 50% fee. Cancellation of a booked vehicle for road test must be done 48-hour advance, otherwise the student will be charged 50% of the fee.
11. Refund Policy:
Completed lessons are non-refundable. If you have purchased a package, you are eligible for a refund on untaken lessons, minus the cost of any lessons already taken at the regular price. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the driving school.
12. Packaged Lessons (not currently offered):
Lesson packages cannot be transferred. They must be taken within six months of the payment date, and there are no refunds after this time. A cancellation fee applies to cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice. If a student does not attend their scheduled lesson, it will be forfeited without a refund. Any remaining fees must be paid before the road test, and failure to do so may lead to the cancellation of the car rental reservation 48 hours before the test.
